Summary

Contribute to the success of a high-performance accounting team. Streamline existing accounting activities to enable future growth. Collaborate with others to improve systems, reporting and controls.

This position will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions and activities in support of nLIGHT’s expanding operations in Vancouver, WA and Hillsboro, OR, as well as international subsidiaries. The ideal candidate should be a hands-on professional who will assist in the proper accounting of business results and improvement of the quality of data upon which decisions are made. We are seeking a self-starter with very high personal and professional values, attention to detail, strong work ethic and positive attitude.

Functions

  • Participate in the general ledger month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and trend analysis.
  • Support revenue recognition including monthly transactional testing and evaluation of new contracts.
  • Support government contracting activities, including billing, revenue recognition, contract close out, and government audits.
  • Calculate and track commissions due to sales representatives and collaborate cross functionally with the sales department in the development of new agreements.
  • Participate in design and implementation of the worldwide SOX controls over the revenue enterprise cycle.
  • Serves as a resource for revenue database maintenance and monthly reporting.
  • Support annual audit and tax requirements, including preparation of required materials.
  • Actively seek and implement process improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA or CPA eligible is preferred.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
    • Manufacturing or high-tech industry preferred.
    • Multi-entity and global organizations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and ability to communicate accounting concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure, handle multiple tasks, and meet all deadlines.
  • Familiarity with ERP and other IT systems. Dynamics AX experience preferred.
  • Must enjoy new challenges, identifying improvements and following through to drive related changes.
