Software/Firmware Engineer

Experience:
Will consider Staff Engineer up to Sr. Engineer level depending on relevant experience and expertise.

Job Description: Development of software and/or firmware for cutting edge laser and electro-optical systems.

Required Experience / Capability:

  2. Ability to work in a dynamic and at times stressful environment and maintain composure and good working relationships under stress. Requirements change frequently and rapid-turn solutions must be developed frequently.
  3. Effectively manage schedule and priorities with minimal daily direction to meet mid to long-term schedule objectives.
  4. Participate as an active member of the software engineering team, including peer reviews, unit testing and project load distribution.
  5. Implement algorithms and process control from block diagrams, pseudo-code and/or Matlab code.
  6. Experience with C# and object-oriented software development practices.
  7. Familiarity with Windows Operating System and writing software to communicate with Hardware (i.e. DLLs and Drivers).
  8. Familiarity with the different buses in a PC and understand pseudo real time requirements and high speed data transfers.
  9. Define and implement test procedures, unit test code and interfaces as required to validate SW/HW operation.
  10. Maintain strict quality and version control via detailed documentation and SVN repository management.
  11. Experience with processor resource allocation, e.g. thread management
  12. Familiarity with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python
  13. Experience in development of graphical user interfaces.
  14. Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity with implementation of electro-optical systems.

Additional Desired Experience / Capability

  1. Experience with VHDL or Verilog.
  2. Experience with FPGAs or microcontrollers and their interface to external devices (PCs, motors, analog circuits).
  3. Experience with electro-optical systems including acquisition, pointing, and tracking.
  4. Experience in Adaptive Optical (AO) Systems and/or High Energy Laser Systems.
